The initial assessment included all four sub-tests of the Phono-Graphix assessment (Blending, Segmenting, Auditory Processing, and Code Knowledge), plus the Word I.D. and Word Attack sub-tests from the Woodcock Johnson Reading Mastery (WJRM).

Phono-Graphix Assessment Results
  • Blending - Hannah scored 12 out of a possible 15. Of these responses, some were self-corrected and/or required lengthier response time than desired.

  • Segmenting - On the segmenting sub-test, Hannah scored 61 correct responses out of a possible 63. Again, some responses were self-corrected and required a lengthy response time.

  • Auditory Processing - Hannah scored 100% on this sub-test, however, responses were not automatic.

  • Code Knowledge - Hannah's initial response to the Code Knowledge page was, "This is the hard part!" - while pointing to the Advanced Code portion of the sheet (more than one letter showing one sound). Hannah scored 45 out of 50 on this portion when allowed to answer at her own pace. It is desirable that Hannah's responses are more automatic so that she will be able to decode quickly and automatically so that her fluency is not affected by time required to decode unknown words.
  • Woodcock Johnson Reading Mastery Sub-Test Results
  • The Word I.D. portion of the WJRM asks the individual to identify real words. Hannah's scores are represented by the red bar and indicates a grade equivalent of 12th grade (or an age equivalent of 17 years, 9 months).

  • The Word Attack portion of the WJRM requires the individual to decode nonsense words. This sub-test identifies any difficulty an individual may have in decoding unknown words. Hannah's score, shown by the red bar, indicates a grade equivalent of 4th grade, 7th month (or an age equivalent of 9 years, 9 months).

  • The blue bar indicates where an individual of the same age would typically score (50th percentile).
